East Anglian children’s charity Break is anticipating making fuel savings of 10-15% after fitting Lightfoot telematics to its fleet of 30 vehicles.

The charity, which currently has an annual fuel bill of £60,000, has installed the technology on the recommendation of supplier Activa Contracts.

Break initially equipped 10 vehicles with Lightfoot earlier this year for a six-week trial across a mix of cars and other vehicles.

Clive Catterall, the charity’s health and safety facilities manager with responsibility for the fleet, said: “During a week behind the wheel of a Lightfoot-equipped vehicle, I was able to increase fuel economy by 10mpg.

“If that is repeated across the fleet in the coming months and years that will deliver a significant cost saving and more than pay for the technology.”

As an Activa Contracts’ customer for more than 12 years, Break currently runs a fleet comprising Ford Focus and C-Max MPV models and Skoda cars as well as a couple of converted vehicles delivering access for disabled children.

The majority of vehicles are operated on three-year replacement cycles with four on four-year contracts and varying mileage parameters.
