AA Driving School has chosen Engineius as its new vehicle movement provider, with the aim of improving customer experience and becoming more efficient.

Shortly after the first lockdown began in March 2020, Nick Falconer, AA Driving School’s fleet manager was tasked with leading the business’ expansion plan to deliver a digitally focused customer experience for his fleet of instructor vehicles.

“After a short pilot period, it was clear that Engineius was able to provide the digital capabilities we were looking for, making them the ideal customer centric business partner,” he said.

“It was vital that we found a company that could offer a standalone plug-in for vehicle movement regardless of the preparation centre locations we chose.”

Vehicle movement for AA Driving School is a critical part of their fleet operation. The AA has one of the largest national Driving Schools with a network of instructors across the UK.

Falconer continued: “We have been delighted with Engineius - not only because the size of their driver network gives us a one-stop shop for all movements, but the quality of their service has also satisfied our exacting standards”.

AA Driving School instructors receive an email from Engineius, which gives them the opportunity to book a handover date and time that is convenient for them.  The live tracking functionality allows the fleet operations team to track the delivery on the day right to their home.

Engineius’ sole supply remit also includes emergency exchange movements, whereby AA Driving School instructors are provided with a replacement courtesy vehicle delivered to their door within 24 hours of reporting an incident. Data transparency allows AA Driving School to closely monitor Engineius’ performance, it says.

Calum Slowther, commercial director at Engineius, said: “Working with the AA Driving School team has helped us build our solution for corporate fleets.

“Nick has a very clear vision of where he wants to take the AA Driving School fleet operation and we’re using the challenge to drive all components of our offering forward, including our partnership with Smart Fleet Solutions”.

Smart Fleet provides refurbishment, preparation and storage facilities for AA Driving School 2,000-strong fleet, predominantly at its Westbury and Long Bennington locations.

Falconer is anticipating a busy year for AA Driving School’s fleet in 2021. He said: “We have started the year with suspensions of driving tuition and tests in the UK and expect we’ll be relying heavily on our fleet partners when things are back to normal.”
