National Windscreens has expanded its network of 108 fitting and calibration centres, with the opening of a purpose-designed facility in Kilmarnock, Scotland.

The new fitting and calibration centre will provide the facility to undertake windscreen replacement and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) calibration services, simultaneously.

National Windscreens’ regional operations director Andy Rae said: “We’re thrilled to be opening our ninth fitting centre in Scotland and we have more planned for the future.

"The expansion is due to the significant growth of ADAS technology, leading to an increase in the number of cars that require calibrating. All the technicians working at the new Kilmarnock fitting centre are IMI Qualified in ADAS and Automotive Glazing.”

Located centrally in Glencairn Industrial Estate, Kilmarnock and placed next to Glencairn Retail Park, the spacious, new building is designed to maximise customer convenience and means that on average, UK motorists will be only 20 minutes, or 11 miles from a technician.

National Windscreens recently reported that it has already invested more than £3 million in equipment and training in ADAS calibration at its 108 UK centres, ensuring just one visit for windscreen replacement and calibration.

With 800 mobile technicians in the UK, over 250 are now qualified to national ADAS calibration industry standards and are forecast to service over 40,000 ADAS customers this year.

Rae said: “We are continually investing not only in training, but also our technology and fitting and calibration centres, to provide motorists in the area with the highest possible quality of service.”

By 2020, it is predicted that more than 40% of new vehicles will have at least two types of driver assisted system fitted. National Windscreens confirms it has plans for continued expansion in line with this demand.
