Vauxhall has confirmed the prices and specifications for the facelifted Astra, which is available to order from August 1.

The new model is available in five-door hatchback and Sports Tourer bodystyles and introduces a brand-new range of RDE2-compliant engines.

Unlike newer Vauxhalls, the Astra’s older platform means it was not possible to fit engines from the brand’s owner PSA Group.

The new powertrains are up to 19% more efficient than the outgoing units. The range kicks off with a 110PS 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, emitting 99g/km of CO2. There are also more potent 130PS and 145PS versions with the same emissions.

A 1.4-litre three-cylinder petrol is available exclusively with a CVT. It develops 145PS and emits 112g/km of CO2.

There is also a 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine with 105 or 122PS. It is optionally available with a nine-speed automatic. CO2 emissions range from 94 -120g/km.

The 105PS diesel is the most efficient, achieving 64.2mpg (WLTP). The 1.2 manages 54.3mpg and the 1.4 returns 48.7mpg.

Prices start at £18,885 on-the-road for the 1.2 in SE trim. The Sport Tourer costs £1,500 more.

SE versions are equipped with a seven-inch touchscreen infortainment system, which includes Apple Carplay and Android Auto. It also has Bluetooth, air conditioning and alloy wheels.

The Business Edition adds sat-nav and a driver’s armrest.

SRI models have LED headlights and sports seats, while Elite adds leather upholstery, heated seats and steering wheel, and eight-inch infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster.

Range-topping Ultimate versions have a Bose sound system, heated windscreen and active (massaging) front seats.
