Peugeot has released the pricing and specifications of its new 308 range, which will include plug-in hybrid models for the first time.

PHEV customers have a choice between the Hybrid 180 e-EAT8 or the more powerful 225 e-EAT8, with both options powered by a 12.4kWh battery and a 1.6-litre petrol engine.

They both have an electric-only range of 37 miles and, with CO2 emissions from 25%, sit in the 11% benefit-in-kind tax band for the 2021/22 financial year.

All PHEV variants are fitted with a 3.7kw on-board charger as standard, with a 7.4kW charger available as an option.

The standard charger will mean a full charge will take 3 hours 50 minutes, while the faster unit cuts this to 1 hr 55 minutes.

The 308 range, which will see first models arriving in UK showrooms in December, will also be available with a 1.2-litre Puretech 130PS petrol engine and a 1.5-litre BlueHDi diesel, also producing 130PS.

All models are available exclusively with Peugeot’s eight-speed automatic transmission.

Prices for the 308 range start from £24,000 and the model will be available in five trim levels: Active Premium, Allure, Allure Premium, GT and GT Premium.

Active Premium is available only on petrol and diesel models.

All models feature Peugeot’s i-Cockpit configuration, with a new multi-function compact steering wheel and a 10-inch colour touchscreen.

They feature the following safety and driver assistance technologies:

• Programmable cruise control and speed limiter
• Lane Keeping Assist
• Speed limit & traffic sign recognition and recommendation
• Driver attention warning
• Intelligent Speed Adaptation
• Active Safety Brake with pedestrian and cyclist detection
• AVAS: Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (PHEV models only)
