DS increases electric range of DS 3 Crossback E-Tense

DS 3 Crossback

DS Automobiles has updated the electric powertrain in the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense to improve the car’s range.

The compact SUV can now cover 212 miles between charges, according to the WLTP test.

It represents a boost of 7% over the existing car.

During its development, DS says priority was given to the real-life usage of the car. Notably, the heat pump has been developed with a moisture sensor for increased efficiency.

Offered as standard, the heat pump enables heat to be produced by compression to generate hot air. As a result, energy consumption is  reduced.

The car’s gear ratio has also been altered and new tyres, developed by Continental, are fitted. The EcoContact 6 Q introduces a new compound with high silica technology to improve rolling resistance and reduce noise emissions.

Similar updates have been applied to the Citroen e-C4, which shares a powertrain with the DS 3.
