8 Honda ZR-V

Honda has confirmed the pricing and specification for its new mid-size SUV, the ZR-V.

The Civic-based model will compete against best-selling models such as the Nissan Qashqai and Hyundai Tucson.

A single e:HEV hybrid powertrain will be offered, combining a 2.0-litre petrol engine with two electric motors. It develops 183PS and 315Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels.

When driving in an urban environment the vehicle mainly runs in EV Drive, drawing power for its motors from a small battery. When the driver requires stronger acceleration, the car will switch to Hybrid Drive and the engine will generate the required electric power. At constant high speeds, such as on the motorway, the system will shift to Engine Drive, where the wheels are powered directly powered by the engine.

Combined fuel consumption is rated at 50mpg, with CO2 emissions from 130g/km.

At 1,620mm tall, 1,840mm wide and 4,568mm long, with a 2,657mm wheelbase, the ZR-V sits between the HR-V and CR-V in Honda's line-up.

Honda says the ZR-V has a premium interior finish and provides a hatchback-like driving experience.

It's equipped with the Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance systems, as well as a nine-inch central infotainment touchscreen.

Three specification grades are offered, starting with the Elegance at £39,495. Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and an eight-speaker audio system.

Sport grades (from £41,095 OTR) come with a unique front bumper and grille treatment, gloss black mirrors and window trim, matte black wheels, and a fabric and synthetic leather combination interior trim. Sports pedals, ambient LED lighting, hands-free power tailgate, wireless charging and additional USB ports are also standard.

Range-topping Advance models (from £42,895 OTR) feature full leather seats with perforated inserts and silver stitching, a heated leather steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, and gloss black and diamond cut alloys. There's also a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a 10.2-inch multi-information display, and an all-new six-inch head-up display (HUD).

The Honda ZR-V will be available to order from July 4.
