Nissan is offering customers the ability to subscribe to a new electric vehicle (EV) from three to 24 months, with the flexibility to switch model during the contract period.

Nissan Subscription covers the cost of the vehicle, insurance for up to five drivers, road tax, servicing and roadside assistance

Customers can choose from the fully electric Nissan Leaf 39kWh Tekna or Nissan Ariya 87kWh Evolve, or the mild hybrid, Nissan Qashqai e-Power N-Connecta, from £645 month (based on a 24-month subscription).

Andrew Humberstone, managing director at Nissan GB said: “We’re really excited about Nissan Subscription as it will appeal to a completely different type of customer for us and bring a whole new audience to our brand.”

The whole process can be completed online and once complete, the car is secured with a fully refundable deposit equivalent to one month’s payment.

The vehicle is then delivered to the customer at home on a date and time of their choosing.

Humberstone continued: “There’s a new generation of motorist coming through that is looking for an entirely digital purchase experience, likes the idea of swapping their car from time to time to suit different needs, and wants to avoid the hassle of motoring admin.

“Nissan Subscription is perfect for them: one simple monthly payment and they’ve got everything covered.”

Prices include 800 miles usage per month as standard, though mileages can be tailored to customer requirements, says Nissan.

To sign up, customers create a profile and provide a scan of their driving licence before choosing their car, arranging payment and confirming a delivery date.

The Nissan Subscription service comes after Renault launched a subscription offer for the Megane E-Tech that included servicing, insurance, road tax, breakdown cover and congestion charges, last year.

Its flexible contract is available for a minimum of three months and up to 48 months, with an all-inclusive monthly fee of £599. There’s no deposit required and a 750-mile monthly mileage allowance applies.

The scheme, like Nissan's, is managed by Bipi, Renault Group’s recently-acquired subscription arm.
