Polestar has introduced battery state of health certificates for its pre-owned Polestar 2 models, certifying the useable battery as a percentage.

The certificate is provided as part of a 112-point check, designed to give used car buyers additional peace of mind when purchasing a used Polstar 2.

The Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP) has recently added its voice to a growing call for an industry-backed battery health certificate for all electric vehicles (EVs).

BCA launched a battery health check service for vehicles sold via its auctions, last year.

Polestar will open its first pre-owned Space in Birmingham, next month, which will be a standalone site in Erdington focussing purely on fully checked and prepped pre-owned Polestars. The Polestar team will deliver the same experience as new car customers.

Matt Galvin, managing director of Polestar UK said: “As more pre-owned Polestars start to come on the market, it offers a lower price entry-point to join the Polestar family and experience our performance EVs with all the software features of our new cars.

“And where customers may have been apprehensive about a five-year-old Polestar 2 and its battery condition, once again Polestar is giving car buyers transparency and providing peace of mind in the same way we do with our climate impact.”

The Polestar 2 has been on sale since 2020 and has become a key model in the true fleet market. Through the years numerous updates have been applied to enhance the car's range, performance and technology.

Every pre-owned Polestar features an extensive 112-point check, a 24-month warranty, and the remainder of the eight-year battery warranty offered.
