Only one variant is available from launch. The ID 7 Tourer Pro Match, costing £52,240.

Later in the year, VW will introduce a Pro S model with a larger 86kWh battery, a projected range of about 425 miles and charging at up to 200kW.

VW says the ID7 Tourer is a "fusion" of a classic estate, in the format of the Passat, and a dynamic shooting brake, such as the Arteon. Thanks to the increased height at the rear, the luggage compartment volume is up to 605 litres (rear seat backrest in cargo position). When loaded up to the backrests of the front seats and up to the roof, this figure rises to up to 1,714 litres.

The ID7’s cabin features a 15-inch infotainment system screen, an augmented reality head-up display, and a new air conditioning operating concept integrated on the top level of the infotainment system.

Other technologies available in the ID7 include a panoramic sunroof with smart glass which can be switched between opaque and transparent settings by touch control, as well as Climatronic front seats which offer cooling and heating as well as a drying function.

Travel Assist technology can support assisted lane changing on the multi-lane motorway at speeds above 56mph.
