Technology company, 3M, has made a new senior appointment within its Automotive Aftermarket Division which serves bodyshops and rapid repair professionals across the UK.

Mark Deakin has been appointed as general sales and marketing manager for the Division following more than 25 years with 3M in a variety of key sales and marketing roles.
He joined the company in 1985 in a sales role within the building service trades group of the Industrial Division. He then moved to the automotive OEM business in 1988 as a marketing executive for automotive manufacturing and design products before becoming sales manager for automotive OEM design products. Deakin’s next role saw him take responsibility for pan-European Japanese transplants as European OEM manager in addition to his role as UK business development manager for the Automotive OEM business.

In 2005 Deakin joined 3M’s display and graphics division as general sales and marketing manager for traffic safety systems, before moving to a similar role in the company’s abrasive systems division in July 2008. He holds a Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).

Deakin commented: “I’m delighted to be taking on this new role. The vehicle repair market remains a challenging one, but our commitment to innovation in both products and processes, and to working with our customers to ensure they get the best from 3M products, means we remain well placed to maintain and increase market share.”
