Businesses grappling with the costs of installing electric vehicle chargers can have rapid chargers installed on site for free via an offer from a specialist high speed charging company.

Engenie installs super-fast 50kW charging points that are capable of charging many vehicle batteries to 80% in less than half an hour.

The chargers work with all models of electric vehicle, and would typically cost anywhere between £50,000 and £70,000 to install and connect to the national grid.

But the Engenie arrangement requires no capital expenditure from a fleet and also includes all on-going maintenance of the chargers. In return, fleets have to commit to a minimum of six charges per day from each charger and pay a pre-negotiated per kWh tariff – higher use may lead to discounted tariffs.

Engenie will also provide full management reports on driver and vehicle charging and usage.

Dora Coventry, Engenie’s marketing manager, said the rapid chargers were ideal for electric fleets that covered higher mileages and needed high vehicle uptime, such as, “vans that need to be out and back with a quick turnaround.”
