SMS will launch a new all-inclusive home and workplace charging solution at Fleet & Mobility Live, which will support anyone with net zero or facilities management objectives.

Joining the event as a headline sponsor, SMS has developed a new package of charging services to support businesses in their transition to electric vehicles.

The headline product is a unique split-meter home charging solution, which offers the ability to charge a vehicle at the employees home through a separate, dedicated meter - avoiding the complex challenge of cost reimbursement for drivers

By installing a home charge point with a separate meter, SMS can provide direct billing and a dedicated EV tariff to a business for all its vehicles.

Mark Winn, head of sales at SMS, said: “We have a very unique solution to the current charging challenges in the fleet sector, which includes reimbursement of driver charging costs at home. With our solution we take away the need for drivers to reclaim charging costs for their company vehicle, with no impact on their home electricity supply.”

It improves cost control for fleet operators, as the dedicated tariff ensures a fixed price is paid for all electricity.

Winn explained: “If drivers are reclaiming charging costs from their own electricity bill then those costs are based on their specific tariff. In that case, a business could be paying a different price per kWh for each electric vehicle. Our solution means businesses will have greater control of their fleet charging costs,  as well as the priceless benefit it offers employees for hassle-free, at home charging."

Other aspects of the SMS EV Charging solution include a Fleet Module which allows operators to track the afore mentioned billing, history and location their entire fleet simultaneously. As well as a charging app, which enables access to nationwide charging points, and gives fleet manager the power to select which networks their drivers can use. It also includes cost management tools and the ability to navigate a driver to the nearest, approved charge point.

SMS has extensive experience in the UK energy market and is channelling its expertise into a complete energy service, which funds, installs, operates and manages carbon reduction assets, including smart meters, EV charge points and battery storage systems.

Fleet & Mobility Live is the biggest exhibition show in the fleet calendar and will take place on October 11 and 12 and the NEC, Birminham.

The event, curated for fleet decision-makers by fleet decision-makers, will tackle the most pressing issues facing fleet and mobility professionals, including safety, regulations, upskilling and much more.

Registration for Fleet & Mobility Live is open now and is free for fleet decision makers.

There will be more than 30 fleet experts speaking during the two-day event, delivering a packed schedule of presentations.

The EV Theatre will feature seven dedicated electrification sessions across the two days and is just one of three dedicated theatre areas that delegates get access to.
