Volvo has unveiled its new V90 executive estate.

The model follows December's launch of the S90, which aims to compete with the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class rivals. The V90 sister vehicle competes with the same vehicles in the estate segment.

“We have a very strong position in the estate segment,” said Håkan Samuelsson, president and chief executive of Volvo Cars.

“In many people’s minds we are known as the definitive estate brand. While the Volvo brand today stands for more than estates, we are proud to carry forward this rich heritage with the V90.”

Much of the vehicle is familiar, with a design style shared with the S90 and XC90, with the addition of a larger boot space and different rear styling.

Engines set to be available include the T8 Twin Engine hybrid, and a range of four-cylinder petrols and diesels.
