There is just one week left to enter the Cox Automotive Barbara Cox Woman of the Year Award, run in association with Fleet News, AM and Smart Transport.

All it takes is a nomination or self-nomination to begin the process by the deadline of January 21 via the awards website.

Automotive leaders from across the industry, from dealers to fleets to suppliers, are urged to put forward their best female candidates for this prestigious award, while leading women can also nominate themselves.

The winner will receive £5,000 to invest in her own personal development, as well as the acclaim of being honoured as an influential and inspirational role model in the sector. She will join the likes of Alison Jones, UK group managing director and senior vice president at Stellantis, and Lorna McAtear, fleet manager at National Grid, on the roll call of winners.

Both Jones and McAtear will be part of the judging panel, together with Alison Fisher and Liam Quegan from Cox Automotive Europe, Lynda Ennis of automotive and mobility executive search firm Ennis & Co and Lindsay Greatbatch, head of B2B memberships at Bauer Media.

McAtear, last year’s winner, said: “Winning the Barbara Cox Woman of the Year Award was a major personal accolade. There are so many skill sets needed in this industry now and women have so much to offer. It’s great to see organisations such as Cox Automotive leading these initiatives and recognising the crucial role of women in automotive.”

The winner will be announced on March 8, 2022 on International Women’s Day.

Stephen Briers, editor-in-chief of AM, Fleet News and Smart Transport, said: “We’re delighted to once again be partnering with Cox Automotive to highlight and honour the important role women play across the automotive industry.

"We hope that by raising the profile of inspiring women, we will help to encourage more to consider automotive as a career choice.”

The award is named after Barbara Cox, who served as director of Cox Enterprises, Cox Automotive’s parent company in the USA.
